Autobiography

I was born and raised in the upper Midwest (mostly Wisconsin). I am married, have two children, and enjoy sports, cars, computers, reading, traveling, and math! Prior to teaching, I worked three years as a mechanical draftsman at Giddings & Lewis Machine Tool Company (Fond du Lac, WI), four years in the US army (Fort Sill, OK and Fort Riley, KS), and two years as a quality assurance engineer at Texas Instruments (Dallas, TX). I taught one semester at Northwestern College (Orange City, IA) and have been teaching here at KCKCC since 1990.

Teaching Style

My classes are informal in nature. I assume that all students in the class are responsible adults and are treated as such. A typical class would include a review of previous material, discussion of new material, cooperative learning, and the use of technology when appropriate. Weekly quizzes give students feedback on their progress.
